Why We Support the Boys & Girls Missionary Challenge (BGMC)

If you’ve visited New Faith Church recently, you may have noticed something special happening during our Sunday service once a month. On the second or third Sunday of each month, we dedicate a part of our worship time to take up a special offering for BGMC—the Boys & Girls Missionary Challenge.

You might see children walking around with little yellow “Buddy Barrels,” joyfully collecting spare change and donations from our congregation. This might seem like a small gesture, but it’s part of something much bigger—a mission to share God’s love across the globe.

What Is BGMC?

BGMC is a program of the Assemblies of God dedicated to teaching kids about the importance of missions and empowering them to make a difference. Funds raised through BGMC go to support missionaries and their ministries all over the world. The money helps provide critical resources like:

• Bibles and literature to share the Gospel

• Food and supplies for humanitarian outreach

• Educational materials to teach people about Jesus

• Support for schools, churches, and clinics in communities in need

Why We Do It

At New Faith Church, we believe in cultivating a heart for missions in every generation. By involving our kids in BGMC, we’re helping them develop an understanding of generosity, compassion, and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). This special offering is more than just giving money; it’s teaching our children—and reminding ourselves—what it means to put our faith into action.

How It Works

On BGMC Sunday, our kids take the lead! Armed with Buddy Barrels, they go around the congregation collecting whatever people feel led to give—spare change, dollar bills, or even checks. It’s always a joyful time of giving, and the kids take great pride in being part of something so meaningful.

Even the smallest gift can have a huge impact. That handful of change in your pocket might help provide a Bible to someone who’s never heard of Jesus or a meal for a child in need.

How You Can Get Involved

If you’d like to participate in our BGMC offering, it’s as simple as bringing your donation on BGMC Sunday. You don’t have to prepare anything elaborate—just give what you feel led to give. Every gift makes a difference!

We also encourage families to talk with their children about missions and the importance of giving. You could even use a Buddy Barrel at home to collect spare change throughout the month and bring it in as a family offering!
